Flick makes an urgent request to Barcelona: I want one of these two players in January
Hansi Flick is clear: he needs more options in attack if FC Barcelona wants to compete to the maximum in the second half of the season.
Although the German coach has a luxury trident formed by Raphinha , Robert Lewandowski and the young prodigy Lamine Yamal , he considers that the depth of the squad is key to face the challenges that are approaching in LaLiga and in the Champions League.
For this reason, he has asked the club’s management to speed up the arrival of an offensive reinforcement in January, and has put two names on the table: Nico Williams and Rafael Leao .
Both players have been on Barcelona’s wish list for some time, but the initial plan was to manage their signings in the summer. However, faced with the urgent need to expand attacking options, Flick has pressed for one of the two ends to arrive earlier than expected.
Nico Williams , who currently plays for the Athletic Club of Bilbao , has been one of the most outstanding players in LaLiga in recent years. His speed, ability to overflow and ability to generate constant danger make him a profile that would fit perfectly in Flick’s scheme.
On the other hand, Rafael Leao is an equally attractive option. The Portuguese, who shines in AC Milan , is known for his physical power, his versatility to occupy any position in the attack front and his ability to define at key moments.
At 25 years old, Leao has proven to have proven quality in high-level competitions, and his explosive style makes him ideal to compete in the demanding European competitions. Flick believes that Leao would bring that touch of dynamism and energy that Barça’s attack needs in the decisive moments of the season.
