Real Madrid and Bayern fear Barcelona’s market moves: Flick convinces two of their top players to join Barça

Hansi Flick is a club coach and his club is now FC Barcelona. The courage that the German coach has shown in giving the talents of La Masia a chance has excited all of Barcelona fans, with players like Marc Bernal , until he was seriously injured, or Marc Casadó , a new international thanks to the leading role he has earned in the first team.

However, the Blaugrana club has the obligation to be permanently attentive to the market and for weeks there has been a player who has gained a lot of prominence in the plan for the summer of 2025: Alphonso Davies.

The 24-year-old Canadian Bayern full-back is out of contract with the Munich club this season and has not yet renewed. His agent, Nedal Huoseh , assured Fabrizio Romano that it is “false that he has a closed agreement with anyone” and that he keeps “many options” open for the future, without even ruling out a possible renewal.

Huoseh spoke after his arrival at Real Madrid in June 2025 was taken for granted. At Barça, as MD reported, there was no such consistency and that is why the door has been kept open to the possibility of going for Davies, who Flick got so much out of at Bayern.

Now there are voices from the Munich club’s entourage, such as former Ballon d’Or winner Lotthar Matthäus , who have a lot of respect for Flick’s power of seduction. The legendary former midfielder referred this week to the specific future of Joshua Kimmich , who like Davies has still not extended a contract that also expires in June 2025.

“We know that at Barcelona there is a coach, Hansi Flick, who holds him in very high regard,” Matthäus told Abendzeitung. “It would be a shame if he left Bayern. He is an exemplary professional and, together with Jamal Musiala , he will be the face of the club in the future,” he added.

Curiously, especially due to Casadó’s emergence, Kimmich’s name has been moderating in the Barça interest pool, while Davies’ name has clearly increased in intensity.

A few weeks ago Kimmich, who at 29 years old is also linked with Real Madrid to fill the void left in the centre of the Camp de la Camp by Toni Kroos , has not yet clarified anything about his future. The matter of Davies, after the categorical denial of an agreement with any club – with Real Madrid on everyone’s mind – is open.
