Szczesny agrees to join Barcelona to replace Ter Stegen
Barcelona must decide whether to sign a new goalkeeper soon or decide to wait until the January market window to compensate for the loss of Ter Stegen in the long term. The sporting directors have already analyzed the list of free goalkeepers to make a unanimous decision with Hansi Flick.
One option is Szczesny, who retired a month ago after a high-profile career. The Polish goalkeeper ended his career after terminating his contract with Juventus to devote more attention to his family, although in Poland they claim he would not turn down a call from Barcelona.
Szczesny’s retirement surprised the football world because he was in a good professional moment and seemed to have the potential to play at the highest level. He received very important offers from Saudi Arabia, but last July he announced his final farewell to professional football.
Some media outlets, such as the “Foottruck” programme in Poland, which features journalists very close to international players from Poland, claim that there is a possibility that he would accept the Blaugrana offer if they contacted him.
Szczesny has a friendly relationship with Lewandowski, even on a personal level, and that could be crucial in allowing him to change his mind about playing for another year.
The Polish goalkeeper is, without a doubt, one of the most attractive options that Barcelona could have if they decided to sign a goalkeeper without a team now. Even higher than Keylor Navas, the candidate who would be on hand at the moment, or Claudio Bravo himself.
