Iturralde González reveals a refereeing scandal that affected the final score of Barca-Osasuna match
The refereeing controversy over VAR decisions has passed through El Sadar in the Osasuna – Barcelona game.
The players of the blue-and-red club claimed Cuadra Fernández for a foul by Lucas Torró for a stamp on Pau Víctor in the 28th minute before the 2-0 that came after Pablo Ibáñez sent the ball to Bryan Zaragoza. The Andalusian ran towards Iñaki Peña and scored after a delicatessen-style dribble.
A play that for Iturralde González , referee analyst for AS and Carrusel, had to be annulled: “In the dispute for the ball there is a stamp by the Osasuna player on the Barcelona player that ends in a goal. At the start of the play, as there is a stamp, he has to whistle a foul. The VAR should have warned him that at the start of the play there was a prior foul . The referee does not signal the stamp because he thinks it was not enough.”
In addition, the former referee has gotten involved in the controversy of the referee designations in the VAR: “We come from a bad week for the VAR referees in which they have had to intervene. It cannot be that the error is rewarded with an appointment for the most mediatic match when 23 referees can be in the VAR.”
Budimir opened the scoring in the 18th minute with an assist from Bryan Zaragoza, who ten minutes later made it 2-0. In the second half, Pau Víctor reduced the deficit in the 53rd minute with a pass from Gerard Martín. Budimir and Bretones scored two more goals for the red-and-whites and Lamine closed the final scoreline for 4-2.
