Fermin Lopez contradicts Lamine Yamal’s statements and angers Hansi Flick

Barcelona is aiming to achieve a treble this season: topping the Spanish league, reaching the Champions League quarterfinals, and reaching the Copa del Rey semifinals. The Blaugrana started like a rocket, suffering disappointment in November and December, but with the start of the new year they have shown their best form. However, some Barcelona players are more cautious when it comes to how the season will end.
In an interview with Sport, Lamine Yamal declared that Barcelona is the favorite to win the Champions League: “There’s no need to fear any team. I’ve already said that Liverpool were the favorites in the Champions League because they finished first in the first round, and then we qualified. I don’t fear any team. We’re the ones who cause the most damage to Real Madrid, and vice versa,” the La Masia-trained striker responded.
“If you don’t think you’re the favorite, you start losing,” he added, “because you don’t think they can beat you, you think you’re the better team, the team that plays better and has the best chance to win.”
Optimistic statements contradict those of Fermin Lopez, in an interview with El Chiringuito. The player, who also trained at La Masia, reversed his opinion when asked whether he considered Barcelona the favorite to win the Champions League.
“I don’t see us as favorites or anything like that. We know we have a good chance because you see our team, our style of play, and what we convey. We can win any title,” said Firmin when asked if they, internally, considered themselves favorites to win the Champions League.
These are statements that will certainly be met with anger from Hansi Flick, as they contradict his philosophy of self-confidence and constant victory.
